The Rotary Club of St Johns Inc enjoys a reputation for fun, friendship and effective service in the local and world community.
It has members from all walks of life, ages and vocations and some of these are pictured above.

Quote from club member Fiona (pictured): "My club's meetings and socials are always fun and being a breakfast club my Thursdays start with a smile and a laugh. As a 'newbie', I'm learning about all the wonderful projects Rotary supports locally and throughout the world, and starting to get involved."

Quote from Past District Governor Beryl & Colin (pictured): "With a willingness to say "yes" to the many opportunities that come along Rotary has taken us and our family to some truly amazing places. It has been one of the best things that ever happened to us as individuals and as a couple."

Quote from club member Mary Ann (pictured): "I love the sense of belonging and camaraderie at St Johns Rotary. The level of commitment isn't huge, but the rewards are vast. Rotary adds a whole new dimension to your life!"

JOIN ROTARY TO HAVE FUN MAKING A DIFFERENCE

You're Welcome from Rotary International on Vimeo.

The Rotary experience is built on service, friendship, business networking, personal development and fun. Rotary is a worldwide organisation of professional, business and community people. Clubs are non-political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races and creeds.

The members of the Rotary Club of St Johns Inc are people who share their time and energy to help their community - and have fun doing it. Families are an integral part of our club. We are men and women from a broad range of professional, managerial or business ownership and community administration backgrounds. Most importantly we want to serve our community. A cross-section of members, representing the diversity of our community is one of our major strengths.

The best way to learn about Rotary is to visit a Rotary meeting, or take part in a project, and find out for yourself. You will be warmly welcomed whether you are interested in joining, volunteering to help / support the club in some way, or you simply would like to learn more about how Rotary works ... Please send your Name, Postal Address, Phone Number, Email Address and indicate your profession/business to stjohnsrotary@gmail.com (this goes direct to the club president).

GETTING INVOLVED BECAUSE
we enjoy these benefits among many ...

The People - Rotary is fun; the people make it an enjoyable experience. Many life-long friendships eminate from belonging to a Rotary club

Friendship - in an increasingly complex world, Rotary provides one of our most basic needs. This includes the right to visit any of the 33,000+ Rotary clubs world-wide and be welcomed as a friend

Opportunity to serve - the best reason for becoming a Rotarian is the opportunity to do something for somebody else and to experience the self-fulfilment that comes as a result

Personal growth and development - there are many opportunities in the club and in the wider Rotary world for growth and education in human relations and personal development

Business development - everybody needs to network and with a diverse membership, Rotarians seek to help each other and collectively help othersContinuing education - every week we have an interesting program designed to keep members informed about community, national and world events.

Fellowship - there are many social events within the club for members and their families as a needed diversion from busy lives

The development of ethics - Rotarians are expected to be ethical in business and personal relationships

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Our projects are many and varied - these are a sample of what our members choose to be involved in

Leadership training for the next generation -

- Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment

- Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Rotary Youth Driver Awareness

International Youth Exchange

International projects such as installing clean water or literacy

Challenge camp for physically disabled youth

ANZAC breakfasts to honour and support our ANZAC heritage

The elderly to the Symphony Under the Stars rehearsal

Supporting international efforts such as the Eradication of Polio, a world-wide initiative started and continued by Rotary in partnership with some major world organisations and the Gates Foundation.

... and much more

The club is also known for establishing initiatives like the Youth Yachting Scholarship now run by Yachting NZ and the Tamaki Pathways Trust now independantly managed but these illustrate what the club is capable of achieving.

"One of the enduring things about Rotary are the friendships and relationships that are formed and endure" - recent quote from a past member whose work meant a transfer 3 years ago to Wellington

"The magic of Rotary is that it allows ordinary people to do extraordinary things, reaching beyond our lives to do something more sharing within our communities and in those thousands of miles away." - an observation by an International Exchange student to NZ

Invest the time for this two minute video which illustrates Rotary and what you can do should you join Rotary to make a world of difference. This from Rotary in the UK but is an accurate representation of Rotary here in New Zealand (just lacks the excitement and opportunities of being a part of the Pacific region).
