The E-Club provides a flexible entry point to Rotary International and is accessible to any young adult across the Zone, helping more people connect with the Rotary family while also supporting the sustainability and growth of local clubs.
How it works
1. Supporting Clubs at Risk of Closure
If a Rotaract club is at risk of folding, due to a shortage of members willing to step into board roles (this happens often), members can instead transfer to the E-Club while continuing to operate locally as a satellite/companion club. This allows the group to remain together and continue delivering their projects while the administrative and leadership requirements are reduced.
2. Creating New Local Clubs
Rotaract is running large-scale membership campaigns across the South Pacific to funnel interested young adults into the E-Club. When four or more members emerge from the same area, we encourage them to form a satellite or companion club. They can begin running local projects and elect a local leader while remaining connected to the E-Club. As these groups grow, the goal is for them to transition out and charter as a new Rotaract club in the local district.
3. Strengthening the RYLA Pathway
Locally, Rotaract encourages all Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) programs to offer participants membership in the E-Club before they return home if they do not already have access to a local Rotaract club. This allows RYLA alumni to stay connected to the Rotary family and continue their leadership journey. Where groups of participants are from the same area, they can meet locally and run projects together as a satellite or companion club, without needing to take on the full administrative burden of establishing a new Rotaract club until they are ready.
4. Building Rotary–Rotaract Connections
All members of the Rotaract E-Club Downunder are encouraged to connect with their local Rotary clubs and, where possible, become dual members of Rotary and Rotaract. While we do not expect every member to take this step, it is an important pathway for strengthening connections between Rotaract and Rotary at the local level. Rotary South Pacific encourages Rotary clubs to explore how younger members can be involved with their club. Big Picture
Rotaract E-Club Downunder is designed to strengthen the entire Rotary ecosystem. It creates a flexible entry point for young adults, provides a safety net for clubs under pressure, and acts as a launchpad for new Rotaract clubs to form. At the same time, it strengthens the pathway from programs like RYLA into long-term Rotary involvement and encourages deeper connections between Rotaract and local Rotary clubs. In short, the E-Club helps ensure that motivated young leaders always have a place within the Rotary family—and a pathway to grow their impact.
