How one group is promoting multiple clubs and seeing the impact.

In the South Pacific, Rotary clubs come together to collaborate as Rotary Community Groups (RCG). One such group from Tropical North Queensland has been actively promoting their group and activities on social media, garnering attention and, more importantly, registration for their events.

How it works

Platforms like Facebook and Instagram allow people to create posts and share their stories. To actively promote the videos to a wider audience, Facebook users can pay for their posts to be boosted through Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram’s parent company).

Showcasing what Rotary does

Over the last 10 months, the Tropical North Queensland Rotary Community Group has been posting consistently to their page, and boosted several of their videos featuring various clubs from the group and their projects.
See below an example of a video featuring the Rotary Club of Cairns Sunrise, a member of the group, to celebrate the Rotary Says NO to Domestic and Family Violence campaign.

Results

The group’s social media pages has reached large audiences.

Over the last 10 months:
  • Their Facebook posts garnered 541,800 views
  • Their Instagram posts garnered 32,200 views
  • Their website saw 3100 visitors view their pages 20,000 times
Sam Dyer, Community Leader of the Tropical North Queensland Community Group shares the benefit of running a Facebook page for the group, rather than for one single club.

“These numbers are enormous for a Rotary club, a club would never achieve this alone. But as a collective group we were able to, and we have been able to expose our clubs and their projects to more people than we could as individual clubs!”

Results aren’t just about views and reach. Engagement and interest is a key indicator of success for the group.

“As a collective group, we are holding an Alumni Night,” Sam explains. “Which has 30 non-rotarians registered to attend. Hopefully this will be a great way to get some more membership.”

What’s next?

Sam explains there is only more to come. “We have a lot more content that has been made, which we are rolling out over the next six months from a big filming day we did.”
