Rotaract in the South Pacific
Rotaract makes a difference by offering young people across nations to develop key networks, skills and connections to last a lifetime. Joe Martinovic is Rotary South Pacific’s Rotaract Director and is serious about ensuring Rotaract is embedded into Rotary’s strategies in our part of the world.
“I am excited to inject a Rotaract voice into the strategic conversations taking place in membership, service projects and programs, public image and across the spectrum of work the Rotary South Pacific is looking at,” Joe said.
In our part of the world, Rotaract is built on collaborative connections demonstrated through Multi District Information Organisations (or MDIOs for short), including Rotaract Australia chaired by Nicholas Egan, Rotaract Oceania chaired by Bronte Barbour and Rotary South Pacific. Nicholas, Bronte and Joe are forging a new way of collaborating across nations.
“Joe, Nicholas and I are absolutely focused on how we can support Rotaractors across the region. Rotaract are not the future of Rotary, we are the present, and we are the now,” Bronte says.
Transcending borders – Rotaract is for any young leader, anywhere
Just like Rotary, Rotaract is a global network which supports local communities.
“We are passionate about having Rotaractors at the tables where big discussions are happening and decisions are being made so a key job for me is to advocate for Rotaract representation at all levels,” Nicholas said.
“We are using the strengths of each MDIO to enable members regardless of geography or experience the opportunity to learn and share resources to further support their local communities,” says Bronte.
Joe reflects on the role of Rotary South Pacific in this collaboration.
“For me, being the immediate past Rotaract Australia Chair, I know the great grassroots work the MDIOs are doing. So, my job is about find the best way can I help the MDIOs, clubs and Rotaractors across the South Pacific access and harness the work already happening to support membership growth and share the positive Rotaract messages.”
