Learn more about Rotary’s impact across the world.
If Rotary suddenly stopped tomorrow, the world would see a big impact in support for amazing initiatives across the world.
Clean water projects would lose funding and volunteers
Take clean water for example. It’s easy to take clean water for granted when it’s always there. But for communities around the world, access to safe water and sanitation can change everything. Rotary clubs across the South Pacific support projects that help communities access clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
Fewer volunteers to teach children how to read
What happens when a child never learns to read? It can affect far more than their time in the classroom. Literacy helps children access education, build confidence, communicate, and have greater opportunities throughout their lives.
That’s why basic education and literacy are so important to Rotary. Across communities around the world, Rotary clubs support initiatives that help children develop the skills they need to learn, grow and thrive. Every child deserves the chance to discover the world through reading.
The world would lose progress in its fight to end polio
Did you know that Rotary is a player in the fight to end polio? On 24 October, World Polio Day brings people around the world together to recognise the progress made towards ending polio and the work still ahead.
Polio is a highly infectious disease that primarily affects children under five. There is no cure, but it can be prevented through vaccination. Together with partners, Rotary has helped immunise more than 3 billion children across 122 countries, contributing to a significant reduction in polio cases worldwide. Today, wild polio remains endemic in just two countries.
These are only a few of many Rotary initiatives that directly impact communities now and into the future. Do you know what your local Rotary club is doing?
