Rotary Community Groups are an innovative way to connect Rotary clubs across the South Pacific. This structure was designed to amplify impact through collaboration. Together, these groups strengthen our ability to deliver meaningful projects and support communities.
Understanding the basics: Community Groups & Leaders
Rotary Community Group (RCG)
Rotary Community Groups are a key component of Regionalisation; they are a collection of Rotary Clubs across Zone 8 which are connected by geographic region, theme or project to amplify their opportunities for impact through collaboration.
Rotary Community Leader (RCL)
Community Group Director
The Community Group Director is a role which sits on the Regional Council of Rotary South Pacific. This role supports and coordinates the Community Leaders to achieve the best possible outcomes in their communities.

RCL Election, Key Dates
- 2 March: Call for Nominations for RCL positions
- 23 March: Nominations for RCLs close.
- 23-29 March: Candidates eligibility confirmation process
- 30 March: Voting opens
- 19 April: Voting concludes
- 21 April (approx.): Local outcomes announced to each club and objection period starts.
- 5 May: Objection period ends.
- May-June: Training and onboarding program
- 1 July: Elected RCLs start role.
The dates relating to outcome announcements and objection periods may be subject to change due to the high volume of individual elections.

Election Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can incumbent RCLs run for another term?
Yes, current RCLs are invited to nominate for a second term in accordance with the updated RCL role description.
I am a current RCL and have identified someone to ’take over’ from me, do they need to nominate?
Yes, all candidates must apply via the application portal.
Can my District Governor install an RCL?
We invite all District and Club leadership to nominate and suggest sound candidates. All candidates must nominated by their Club Presidents via the application portal. A District Governor nor a Club President cannot ‘appoint’ an RCL to an RCG.
I know someone who would be a good fit. Do I tell Rotary South Pacific or tell the person to nominate first?
I am an RCL but didn’t do the full two-years to 30 June, will I be replaced or do I have to nominate again?
We don’t currently have an RCL, will there be an election process in my RCG?

How to RCGs connect with one another?
- A fair-play zone to share photos, ideas, and inspiration
- Dedicated channels for General Chat, Membership, Zone Conference buzz, Peer Support Loop and more.
- A space to seek support, share wins and challenges.
How do RCLs work with District Governors?
District Governors are encouraged to work with Rotary Community Leaders on how best to collaborate in delivering a growth plan for each RCG.
